Hollister was the first woman in Ohio history to be elected lieutenant governor. She served in that capacity during the Voinovich administration.
George Voinovich resigned from office on December 28, 1998 in order to prepare for his new role as U.S. Senator. She served as acting governor until Robert Taft was sworn in.
