Before entering the entertainment field, Martin had a diverse employment history, including working in a steel mill and fighting in the boxing ring as Kid Crochet.

He got his big start as a performer singing in Cleveland area night clubs.

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis teamed up from 1947 to 1957 to form one of the most famous comedy duos in Hollywood history. Together, they made a number of films.

After the two went their seperate ways, Martin achieved solo success in such films as The Young Lions and Rio Bravo.

He hosted his own television variety show, The Dean Martin Show, from 1965 until 1973, when the show was renamed The Dean Martin Comedy Hour. His show evolved into the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts from 1974 to 1984.

Dean Martin has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for his accomplishments in film and the other for his work in television.
